Game Summary

The Generals twice had two goal leads but Findlay scored the game's last 5 goals to move to the District's Quarter-Final against Bowling Green. Tyler Thines (pronounced "Tee - nez") scored the Trojans first 4 goals. The Trojans move on to play Bowling Green in the OHSAA Sylvania District Quarter Finals.

The Generals got on the board quickly, just 35 seconds into the game, when Ulrich was credited with a goal knocked into the Findlay net by a defenseman. He then later extended the lead to 2 to 0 on a great play from Seipel and Rob Witte. Tyler Thines broke AW's momentum with a power play goal with just 48 seconds remaining in the first period. Just 17 seconds into the 2nd period Seipel broke away with a John Vollmar pass and beat Trojans' goalie Travis Frier to extend the lead to 3 to 1. Findlay scored the final 5 goals to beat the upstart Generals, but AW did not go down quietly. Friar stopped David Barnes on a 2nd period break-a-way which would have put AW up 4 to 2. Seipel had good oppportunities in the 3rd period but was either stopped by Friar or shot wide. The Generals ended their season with 21 wins 8 losses and a ties.

Seipel established the following School Records:
Goals Scored - Season 53 - (Old Record Chris Mathews 51)
Points Scored - Season 106 (Old Record Mathews 99)
Goals Scored - Career 123 (Old Record Mathews 114)

Mathews still holds the career Points Scored total of 240 just ahead of Seipel's 237.

It is unlikely, with the much more difficult schedules the Generals will play in future years, that these records, by these two wonderful players) will ever be matched. We are certain Coach Mathews is very proud of Zach's career and we have been lucky to have seen both of them in a Generals' uniform.
