Game Summary |
The Generals earned their first ever Varsity Tournament Championship by beating Olentangy Liberty 4 to 1 and swept all three of its tournament games. The victory avenged a thrashing by the Patriots in a pre-season scrimmage when Liberty outscored AW 14 to 3 in the three periods played. Dan Koralewski, the Generals Senior Goalie stopped 27 of 28 shots to lead AW to the win. Zak Seipel's hat trick and an assist led the Generals offense. Defensemen Zach Tansel with 2 assists and Jake Smith with one highlighted an outstanding performance by AW's back liners who also include Charlie Witte and Jake Bogdan. Zach Ulrich opened the Generals scoring with 6:59 remaining in the opening period on Seipel's and Andrew Price's assists. John Vollmar played a dominate 2-way game and contributed to Seipel's third goal with great work from behind the Patriots net. Even Koralewski chipped in with an assist to cap off his sensational tourney. |
